Dear Ellie, wishing I could push the pause button

Dearest Elisabeth:

You simply could not be a sweeter baby. Your eyes and spirit are kind. You are a total snuggle puppy. You love to be held and drift off to sleep so peacefully in our arms. You are a perfectly plump and curled up sack of cuddles.

My favorite part is nursing you in bed and how you just drift off to sleep on your side with your little fists snuggled up next to your face.

I know the wise path is to cling to nothing and push away nothing but I am having lots of desires to push the pause button. No matter how much I try to just sit and soak you in, it's going too fast. You've already grown out of your newborn clothes. The growth is almost touchable.

You love your pacifier and your sisters.

You love your carseat, and boy do I appreciate that--makes EVERYTHING so much easier.

Daddy gave you your third bath last night and you enjoyed it.

You're starting to have a better sense of your hands and arms. Before we know it, those random arm and hand glides that I know I felt when you were in the womb, won't be there any longer. You'll have a mind of your own.

Your belly is starting to be a delectable Buddha belly and so many people have commented how you look like such a healthy baby. I honestly have almost mistaken you a few times on our bed and couch for a doll.

Your daddy says to say that he's really glad you easily take the bottle unlike one of your sisters :-) He put you in the snow for the first time today. You feel asleep with the snow falling on your face. Is there any other way to say you are a delightful baby.

Your first 5 weeks have been so special. Lots of family time. The transition has been smooth. You fit right in.

We love you,
Mama and Daddy
